Dino Trail Weissenstein
The Dino Trail Weissenstein leads to real dinosaur tracks in the quarry of the Bellach civic community. An exciting journey of discovery awaits all who want to learn more about life millions of years ago.
Beschreibung
Around 150 million years ago, this region was covered by a shallow lagoon. In the soft mud, massive plant-eaters – so-called sauropods – left footprints up to 40 centimeters in size. These prehistoric tracks are still visible today in the quarry of the Bellach civic community.
The Dino Trail Weissenstein invites you on an exciting circular hike from Oberdorf railway station to the quarry and back again. Halfway along the trail, a viewing platform offers a unique look at the impressive tracks in the rock wall.
Along the way, digital experience stations provide additional insights and fun: with images, videos, animations, and augmented reality. This brings the gentle giants of prehistory back to life – in full size, right in today’s landscape.
