Friedhofplatz
Oldest square in Solothurn
Beschreibung
Friedhofplatz in Solothurn’s old town is the city’s most storied square. Visitors can see and even feel the Roman and medieval history of the place, especially in the surrounding architecture. Solothurn was a ‘world city’ when Holy Roman Emperor Conrad II crowned his son, Henry III, King of Germany in 1038 in the chapel once located on this square. Benches line the square beneath beautiful, shady plane trees, far removed from city traffic – so sit back and relax.
