Historical Museum Blumenstein
The Blumenstein Museum draws on a collection of historical objects that was established in the Solothurn City Library as early as the 18th century.
Beschreibung
The Museum Blumenstein is the historical museum of the city of Solothurn. The stately summer residence Blumenstein is located not far from the old town in the immediate vicinity of the cantonal school. In the refined living rooms on the first floor of the castle, which was built between 1725 and 1729, you can immerse yourself in the fascinating world of late baroque living culture. The former owners of the castle are still present in the many portraits. In the historic kitchen in the cellar, in the servants' chambers on the mezzanine floor and in the attic, you can sense the considerable social contrasts at the time of the castle's construction.
In the rooms on the upper floor of the child-friendly museum you will find a large model of the city of Solothurn, a historical peep-show, holy relics and regularly changing exhibitions on selected topics of the history of the city of Solothurn and its inhabitants. In the neighboring tenant house of the castle, an archaeological exhibition takes you back to the early days of Solothurn's 2000-year history.
