Museum Altes Zeughaus

The Old Armoury has characterised the appearance of the city of Solothurn since 1614. It was used to store the personal armoury of Solothurn's citizens and was a symbol of the city state's ability to defend itself. The Old Armoury was used as a museum as early as the 18th century. In 1907, the armoury ceased operations and the building was completely converted into a museum. From 2014 to 2016, the building, which is over 400 years old, was remodelled, extensively renovated and the permanent exhibition renewed.

During the special exhibitions, no events take place in the Museum Altes Zeughaus.
